I am a product of the foster care system, so I know nothing of my birth family. I was raised from 10 months with a family named Herschel, and from 4 to 7 in a Children's home, then for six years with the Flints. No one wanted to talk about why. Tara Gibson gave me the reasons and more than I could imagine. My mother was married to Bill Flint, but he was not my father. James Melville was. Apparently she stayed with Bill at first, but apparently it wasn't working because she left and I was placed in foster care. Later I was placed with adoption agency and then a Children's home. When Bill Flint remarried, he took me to live with him, HS new wife and my half brother. I was never a good fit in that home, and I ran away, very much like my mother did: I went to the movies and never returned. I spent time as a "guest of the state" at still another school, and finally was on my own at 16, never knowing anything more. Through DNA and Tara I found out about James Melville and my mother's relationship with him, but there was more! It turns out that theirs was a recurring affair. Twelve year after, the same pair had another child, my blood sister Judith, whom I never knew about but whom Tara found, and put us in touch with Judith's granddaughter, whom we are adding to our family as blood kin. With Tara's help, we were able to find pictures of my mother, father, Judith and Judith's daughter.
Tara, I can’t thank you enough for helping me put the puzzle pieces altogether. I have been searching for years for my biological grandfather and you were able find him in a matter of days. You truly are a “genealogy Angel”. Your talent has gifted me with two Aunts and an uncle. Some of the family is still hesitant but time will heal.
I'm an adoptee who took a Ancestry DNA test and that is how I met my cousin Tara Gibson. The experience has truly changed my life. I never imagined after 50 years, I would be able to answer the questions of my heart through her flawless research. And the amazing cherry on top has been connecting with my birth father and developing a beautiful relationship!
I originally tried some of the DNA testing kits several years ago to see if I could track down my biological parents/family. Unfortunately, I didn’t get many matches back at that time. A couple years ago I decided to repost my results since the kits had become more popular. This time I had several “matches” come up, but because I was not too familiar with genealogy, I couldn’t track down the relationships properly. This is where Tara came in to play. I was able to connect with her, and she helped me find my biological mother, and 2 half- brothers within days. However, there was a challenge in trying to find my biological father because we hit a roadblock getting details about him from my biological mother. Tara did not give up and a few months later I had another DNA match and she was able to help me connect with a 2nd cousin from a paternal relation. Through this contact, she was able to help me find and contact my biological father. I can’t thank Tara enough for her assistance, and guidance working on my family tree. Without her help I’m not sure I would have been able to form the great relationships I now have with my newly found family members.
I met Tara Gibson through one of my cousins on Ancestry. I noticed that I had two very high sharing relatives that I did not know how I was related to them. Tara was very instrumental in figuring out who those matches were and I how I relate them. They were my maternal Aunt and Uncle. Tara was able to put the pieces together and determine the biological father for my mother and my Aunt and Uncle. Tara also was able to identify my paternal grandfather as well as finding the biological father for one of my cousins. Her research has proven invaluable to me and my family.
Tara Gibson breathes experience and knowledge about tracing unknown family. When I met Tara via a phone conversation, she assured me that she would crack the case regarding my mysterious biological father. And, a year and a half later, she did exactly that. So, when Tara Gibson informs you that she will locate the missing link from your DNA matches, you’d better believe it!
I literally gave up on finding my paternal side. Then on Friday, March 10, 2023 I got a message from a search angel stating that she has a client that needed info on a person that I manage on Ancestry. I asked her, Tara Gibson, if she could help me and within 4 days I found my 5 of my siblings among many other surprises. Tara Gibson is my living ANGEL!!
all the way to Australia to reunite an adoptee with her biological father!!
